Cata’s Guide to a Natural Look

Updated: Sep 29

The first time I ever visited the Glossier store in New York I physically felt my jaw hit the floor. My young, 12 year old self was certain she had reached the gates of heaven after patiently freezing her ass off in line. I approached the majestic pink doors with utmost confidence. Stunned by the beautiful stations where people gathered, trying on the different products, and truly experiencing the charm behind them. That moment is what bloomed my love for makeup. Since then I have curated my very own collection, perfect for a natural, enhancing look. Here are some of my favorite products and why:

But First,

Quick little pic appreciation for 12 year old Cata:

La Roche-Posay Face Wash and Moisturizer:

Before putting any makeup on, I like to wash my face and moisturize. Nothing too crazy but starting with this clean base ensures smooth application for all your makeup. Both of these products are my skincare holy grail. I have sensitive skin and rosacea and they have kept my skin from flaring up badly for the past 2 years.

Tower 28 SunnyDays SPF 30 Tinted Suncreen:

I only discovered the SunnyDay tint a few months ago but it has completely changed my makeup look. The 2-in-1 product provides light to medium coverage while also protecting my skin from the grueling Miami sun with SPF 30. Not to mention, the product is also safe for sensitive skin, vegan + cruelty-free, and fragrance-free. The texture of the tint is light and creamy which makes the application easy. Especially if I'm going out somewhere fancier, I love using this product because it evens out my skin tone and adds a glowy finish without looking cakey or creasing all day long.

Kosas Concealer:

The first time I saw this concealer on my TikTok I knew I had to try it. It was too good to be true, I mean a concealer that lasts all day and also has beneficial ingredients that brighten the skin? No way, right? So… not even an hour later, I found myself at Sephora picking up my shade. After testing, I can assure you this product is a game changer. It provides medium coverage, brightens the under eye seamlessly, and is 100% crease-proof (yes, 100%). I can wear this product all day and it won‘t budge. For the price and formula, this concealer is a no brainer.

Glossier’s Cloud Paint:

Up until I found this product I strayed FAR away from blush because of my rosacea. Other blushes normally made me look like I just ran a marathon and irritated my skin intensely- but not Cloud Paint. The application is easy and the color amplifies my red cheeks while adding a flawless dewy finish. The product is also buildable and multi-functional, so if you would like to use it as eye shadow or lip stain, go ahead.

My shade: Storm

Tower 28 ShineOn Lip Jelly:

The Tower 28 Lip Jelly has all the great qualities of lip gloss and lip balm combined. The plant-based formula has 5 nourishing oils that leave your lips feeling moisturized throughout the day and also add a beautiful shine. My favorite thing about this product is how it isn’t sticky at all, so there’s no need to worry about your hair adhering to your lips.

My shade: Wild

Glossier Lash Slick Mascara:

Of course, I have to include my Glossier Top Picks. After curling my eyelashes I apply a few strokes of this mascara. It creates a subtle lift but is also buildable if you like a more extravagant look. This mascara is lightweight and doesn‘t clump which makes it look that much more natural.

Glossier’s Boy Brow:

If you couldn’t already tell, I'm a die-hard Glossier girly. The Boy Brow perfectly tames my eyebrows while adding color in all the right spots. It holds my eyebrows in place ALL DAY! This has just the right amount of coverage and allows you to control how much product you would like to use.

My shade: Brown

Price: $17

Ilia Setting Spray:

To finish it all off, this setting spray never disappoints. My makeup will last the whole day without smudging even in Miami’s horrying humidity. I don’t spray an excessive amount because a little really does go a long way.
