Vogue's 2023 Met Gala was one for the books. The theme for the night was Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty and the invited celebs did not come to disappoint. Among the guests that added on to the magical night honoring Lagerfeld's legacy were his muses - the Chanel Brides.
Who was Karl Lagerfeld?
Karl Lagerfeld was a German fashion designer who began his career in fashion in the 1950's and worked for several top fashion brands such as Balmain, Patou, and Chloé, before joining Chanel as the creative director in 1983 (1983-2019). He is best known for reviving Chanel and creating the brands infamous double 'C' interlocking logo. The last major bag he designed was the Chanel 19.
Who are the Chanel Brides?
Since the late 1980's, Lagerfeld chose each years "it" girl to close the haute couture show as the "bride" of the night for Chanel - a luxury clothing brand. From models such as Claudia Schiffer to Kendall Jenner, these ladies have wrapped the show up with a stunning conventional - or unconventional - wedding dress.

The brides of Chanel were Karl's signature way of closing a haute couture show, creating illustrative designs which heavily influenced the fashion world.
